  • “Even our hardest stories must be told, and we are responsible for what we pass on. We have to reframe hard stories – on the one hand progressively, looking into the future, on the other hand regressively, how we can forgive. Thus, this is a two-way road, which is basically about character development.
It is just like in fairy tales! We have the hero who can be however frail and unlucky will hit the road. He goes along his road, he has helpers, fight with dragons and witches, but they don’t mean the end of the story, but they’re participants of a battle story, who can be defeated, and the journey goes further right up to the top of the tree reaching the skies.
It is a huge blessing if someone entangling hard life circumstances brought over from childhood and battling them becomes a parent. The one who has experienced the deepest pits, and gets to the surface on his own will obtain an immense self-power, and it helps not only him but his children too.
Therefore, I think we cannot escape our own stories, we must come to grips with them, make them easy to tell, otherwise they will haunt us forever, and we won’t be able to get along. No instant solution, unfortunately; it’s a long, hard but beautiful road, a lifelong development.” (Kádár Annamária) #sincere #lifestories #storytelling #narrative #yourstory #peoplefromhungary #peopleofhungary

  • “In Scallabouche, I feel, we have found a novel art language. I call it narrative theater, and for me it is an entirely new way of commitment to drama. Our self-narrating mosaics show the inner lives of the characters by letting us have an insight, apart from their emotions and struggling, into their so-called abstract worlds too. Thus, the narrative theater leads the viewer into a completely different way of thinking compared to the classic stone theater plays. Mostly, I could liken it to the experience of reading, where we picture and complement the story always with our own individual fantasy and imagination, and by this we become not only the observer of the story, but a part (performer) of it. So the narrative theater features the perspective of how we can get to know ourselves (and of course, others and the world around us) through defining human stories.
In the Scallabouche Theater one thing is constant: every play is unique and non-recurrent. Since you never know when the actor will do or say something surprising on the stage – which means that our audience can always experience something very living, very real. I like it when I can create, generate something where people forget logical and reasonable thinking, the outside world, and get to know such a world where nothing is white or black…” Alexis Latham, @scallabouche #sincere #lifestories #people #peopleofhungary #peoplefromhungary #portrait #britishactor #scallabouche #confessions
  • I’ve realized through the years that I’ve been basically driven by the wish to be liked. I don’t know why but I have always felt that I can be more beautiful on the stage than in real life, and the truth is that I could truly experience my real female side only on the stage. I wasn’t lucky in love, because I always let others choose me – I would have needed more self-confidence to be able to choose myself. Maybe it was my last relationship which ended after 15 years that made me realize that I should never have settled for less in relationships, and I should have endeavored to have the perfect for me. Peter, our manager, often told me about the art of choice, he said that it is the greatest art, and now I know that he was right. He managed to choose well, and I had to lose him to realize that I myself know what is good choice and when. I should have done one thing differently, though, the first time I had doubts, I should have quit. If I do it, I divorce in five, not fifteen years… But now I feel great. I feel that finally I have grown up, which may sound bizarre at the age of 65, but it looks like I’m a late bloomer. I was always an easy prey, and I always believed when I was told by others what I can or what I can’t, but for some time now I’m able to recognize and say it that “I know what I want.” Csepregi Éva @evaneoton #neotonfamilia #people #portrait
  • “As we start dealing with this pedagogy, we too start going down the path of change. We must, since we teach with our own personalities, with the help of our own human quality. Children – even without words – are mostly curious about “Who are you?”, because they want to connect, can connect with the man. Then all the knowledge can be built upon this, which knowledge we would like to convey to them. No wonder that with time I felt a certain kind of responsibility, the teacher’s responsibility. The fundamental reading of Waldorf pedagogy, General Anthropology, begins with a grand celebration when Steiner calls our attention to how fantastic a festive event is that we can teach like this. At the same time, it also has gravity, since every single deed or gesture of yours as a teacher bears significance and meaning.” #sincere #lifestories #peoplefromhungary #people #peopleofhungary #szentendre #waldorf #waldorfpedagogy #portrait #hungarians
  • “First you don’t see it, only when it’s too late. For most people it begins at a high school party where someone has a bottle of booze. And slowly you end up collapsing on your bed at 9 pm, you sleep till 2 am, you get up, shudder, sweat, you knock down a shot, throw it up, knock down another one which may stay inside of you, but it comes out too, maybe the third one stays inside. You drink a little bit more, go back to bed, and wait for its effect. You fall asleep. You get up at half past 4, and start with another shot… And this is your life. You feel you’re gonna drop dead, but then you tell yourself it’s okay, I’m aware of this, but I just have to drink this shot so I can write down at least my name. And it’s always “only” one shot that helps to endure the next 10-15 minutes.” (Sáringer Zoltán) #sincere #lifestories #people #peoplefromhungary #peopleofhungary #portrait
